A guide to Doha's top spots and the ideal season to kite.

Discover Doha: Qatar’s Rising Kitesurfing Star

With Qatar Airways recently announced as the title sponsor of the GKA Kite World Tour, Doha is rapidly establishing itself as a kitesurfing hotspot in the Middle East. Located on the Arabian Gulf, Doha offers exceptional wind conditions that cater to all skill levels. Whether you're new to the sport or a seasoned pro, Doha’s warm waters and sprawling beaches create the perfect environment for kitesurfing. When you're not on the water, the city's vibrant cultural scene and modern amenities ensure a dynamic and enjoyable experience.

Doha's kite season

The best time to kitesurf in Doha runs from November to July. During these months, temperatures range from a comfortable 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F), with water temperatures between 22°C to 28°C (72°F to 82°F). The wind is ideal for kiting, blowing steadily at 12 to 20 knots.

Summer can get quite hot, with temperatures exceeding 40°C (104°F). However, the thermal winds during this time can still deliver some impressive sessions. Most of the year, you'll be in your lycra, but during the cooler months, a shorty wetsuit might be a good idea to keep the good vibes flowing.
