Highlight
Le Morne, situated on the southern tip of Mauritius, is celebrated as a kitesurfing paradise with its diverse conditions and stunning natural beauty. The iconic One Eye wave is just one of the many highlights this destination offers. Within a compact area of just 1 mile, you can experience a range of conditions, from serene flatwater and gentle waves to world-class barrels.
As the top spot in Mauritius, Le Morne can get quite crowded, especially in the lagoon. So if you're just starting out, or simply looking for some quieter sessions check out Anse la Raie, located on the northern tip of the island.
Le Morne's kite season
The best time for kitesurfing in Le Morne is from April to November, when the South-Easterly trade winds offer the most consistent conditions. During this period, wind speeds typically range from 15-25 knots, with the strongest winds kicking in from June to September. July and August are particularly reliable, though the wind can shift direction from East to South.
The summer months (December to March) can also get windy, but the conditions tend to be less steady.
The water temperature at Le Morne remains fairly warm throughout the year, between 19°C and 24°C. We'd recommend long wetsuit throughout the season, but you might just be ok with a shorty during the warmer months.

Le Morne, One Eye
One Eye is a legendary wave spot, known for fast, powerful left-handers that can challenge even pro kiters. The wave forms a perfect tube along the reef, offering an incredible but dangerous ride. Self-rescue can be difficult so it's best to book a rescue boat before hitting the spot.

Le Morne, Kite Lagoon
A great spot for beginners and flatwater lovers, but it can get crowded with students and beginners. For better conditions, head to the left side of the lagoon and upwind, where the flatwater is ideal. Be mindful of the tides and coral heads as the water can get pretty shallow.
